Mobile Fabric Engineer - Manchester

Are you an experienced Fabric Engineer, Fabric Technician or Multi-Skilled Maintenance Operative looking for a mobile role across Manchester and the surrounding areas?

We're recruiting for a Mobile Fabric Engineer to join an established national Facilities Management provider, carrying out planned and reactive building maintenance across a portfolio of commercial properties.

This is a varied position covering general building fabric maintenance, repairs and minor works, ideal for someone with a broad maintenance background who enjoys working across different sites and tackling a variety of jobs.

What's on Offer?

  • Up to £32,000 basic salary

  • Company van

  • Mobile role covering Manchester and surrounding areas

  • Permanent, full-time position

  • Varied commercial FM portfolio

  • Career progression opportunities

  • Opportunity to join an established national FM provider

The Role

As a Mobile Fabric Engineer, you'll travel between commercial properties carrying out planned and reactive building fabric maintenance.

You'll be responsible for completing day-to-day repairs and maintenance, identifying defects and ensuring buildings remain safe, presentable and well maintained.

The position will involve a broad range of fabric and handyman duties, so we're looking for someone who is comfortable turning their hand to different maintenance tasks rather than specialising in just one trade.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned and reactive building fabric maintenance

  • Complete general building repairs and minor works

  • Basic carpentry and joinery

  • Door, lock, hinge and closer repairs

  • Minor plumbing repairs

  • Repair fixtures and fittings

  • Patch plastering and making good

  • Painting and decorating

  • Ceiling tile and flooring repairs

  • Basic drainage and plumbing maintenance

  • Repair and replace damaged building fabric

  • Carry out minor installation works

  • Identify defects and additional remedial works

  • Complete PPM tasks

  • Respond to reactive maintenance requests

  • Complete job sheets and maintenance documentation

  • Liaise professionally with customers and site teams

  • Ensure all work is completed safely and to a high standard

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone with previous experience within Facilities Management, Building Maintenance, Property Maintenance or a similar environment.

You don't necessarily need to be a specialist in every trade, but you'll need a good all-round maintenance skillset and be confident carrying out a variety of building repairs independently.

Experience could include:

  • Building fabric maintenance

  • Carpentry / joinery

  • Basic plumbing

  • Painting and decorating

  • Plastering / making good

  • Doors and locks

  • Fixtures and fittings

  • General handyman duties

  • Commercial property maintenance

Essential Requirements

  • Previous building fabric or general maintenance experience

  • Good all-round practical maintenance skills

  • Experience carrying out repairs independently

  • Comfortable working across multiple customer sites

  • Good fault-finding and problem-solving skills

  • Professional and customer focused

  • Full UK Driving Licence

A recognised trade qualification in carpentry, joinery, plumbing, building maintenance or a similar discipline would be advantageous but isn't essential where you have strong relevant experience.

Join a National FM Provider

You'll be joining an established national Facilities Management provider with a large commercial customer portfolio and opportunities for continued training and career development.

This is a good opportunity for an experienced Fabric Engineer who wants the stability of a major FM business while retaining the variety that comes with a mobile maintenance role.
