We’re recruiting a Lead Mechanical Engineer to join a large, well-established hospital estate in Hammersmith, working within a live healthcare environment. This is a Monday–Friday, days-based role, ideal for a strong mechanical engineer who is ready to step up into a Lead position while remaining hands-on.
The role
You’ll act as the on-site mechanical lead, supporting the safe, compliant operation of mechanical systems across the hospital. Key responsibilities include:
- Planned and reactive mechanical maintenance in a hospital environment
- Working on pumps, motors, pipework, plant rooms and AHUs
- Acting as the mechanical point of contact on site
- Supporting statutory compliance and safe systems of work
- Coordinating and supervising subcontractors and specialist suppliers
- Completing reports, permits and maintenance documentation
- Supporting service delivery in a live, critical environment
This is a visible role with responsibility, but still very much hands-on.
What we’re looking for
- Mechanical qualification Level 2 or Level 3 (or equivalent)
- Strong background in mechanical building services maintenance
- Ready to step into, or already operating in, a Lead Engineer role
- Confident with paperwork and compliance documentation
- Healthcare or critical-environment experience is beneficial but not essential
- Calm, professional approach suited to a hospital setting
