We’re recruiting a Lead Mechanical Engineer to join a large, well-established hospital estate in Hammersmith, working within a live healthcare environment. This is a Monday–Friday, days-based role, ideal for a strong mechanical engineer who is ready to step up into a Lead position while remaining hands-on.

The role

You’ll act as the on-site mechanical lead, supporting the safe, compliant operation of mechanical systems across the hospital. Key responsibilities include:

  • Planned and reactive mechanical maintenance in a hospital environment
  • Working on pumps, motors, pipework, plant rooms and AHUs
  • Acting as the mechanical point of contact on site
  • Supporting statutory compliance and safe systems of work
  • Coordinating and supervising subcontractors and specialist suppliers
  • Completing reports, permits and maintenance documentation
  • Supporting service delivery in a live, critical environment

This is a visible role with responsibility, but still very much hands-on.

What we’re looking for

  • Mechanical qualification Level 2 or Level 3 (or equivalent)
  • Strong background in mechanical building services maintenance
  • Ready to step into, or already operating in, a Lead Engineer role
  • Confident with paperwork and compliance documentation
  • Healthcare or critical-environment experience is beneficial but not essential
  • Calm, professional approach suited to a hospital setting
