Our client is looking for a qualified and experienced Maintenance Plumber to join their team on their site in Birmingham. This is a full-time, permanent position delivering both planned and reactive maintenance services across the hospital estate, ensuring compliance with relevant safety and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake planned preventive maintenance (PPM), testing, breakdown maintenance, and other activities related to water systems.
- Work primarily at the Acute Hospital, with additional duties at the Retained Estate and the Mental Health Unit.
- Carry out all mechanical craftsperson duties related to water systems, as directed by management.
- Ensure all work complies with current regulations, codes of practice, Health & Safety regulations, and safety rules set by our client and statutory authorities.
- Maintain and test water systems in a commercial or healthcare environment, with a sound understanding of Legionella control and water hygiene best practices.
- Clean and disinfect water storage tanks and conduct related inspections.
- Perform temperature monitoring, showerhead cleaning and disinfection, tank inspections, water sampling, calorifier inspections, and TMV servicing.
- Work independently and accurately from technical instructions, drawings, and specifications.
- Deliver all maintenance activities, especially PPM tasks, in line with maintenance requirements.
Qualifications and Experience
- Required: NVQ or City & Guilds Level 2 qualification in Heating, Ventilation, or Plumbing; Training and awareness in Legionella control, TMV servicing, and water system disinfection.
- Preferred: HTM 04 Responsible Person or Competent Person training; Previous experience in a healthcare environment.
Other Requirements
- Ability to pass a DBS Standard check, which is a condition of employment for this role.
