The Role
As Facilities Manager, you'll take responsibility for overseeing the day-to-day facilities operation of the site, ensuring maintenance, engineering and FM services are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required standards.
You'll manage the daily activities of the facilities team, coordinating workloads, allocating tasks and ensuring planned and reactive maintenance is completed effectively.
A major part of the position will also involve managing contractors and suppliers, maintaining strong relationships with the client and identifying opportunities to improve the performance of the facility.
Key Responsibilities

Manage the day-to-day operation of facilities and maintenance services

Lead and supervise the on-site facilities team

Schedule daily activities and allocate workloads

Monitor team performance, training and development
-
Coordinate planned and reactive building maintenance

Manage engineers, technicians, contractors and specialist vendors
-
Ensure PPM and reactive maintenance is completed within agreed timescales

Maintain strong relationships with the client and key stakeholders
-
Attend client meetings and resolve outstanding facilities issues
-
Manage contractor and supplier performance
-
Review quotations and support the procurement of services, labour and materials

Monitor operating budgets and expenditure
-
Support capital works and facility improvement projects
-
Carry out regular facility inspections and quality checks
-
Ensure Health & Safety procedures are followed across the site

Maintain high standards of statutory and operational compliance

Identify opportunities to improve processes, efficiency and site performance

Support recruitment, training, coaching and development of the facilities team

Resolve day-to-day operational issues across the facility
What We're Looking For
We're looking for an experienced Facilities Manager with a strong understanding of building operations, maintenance and facilities service delivery.
You’ll need to be comfortable leading an operational team while also working closely with engineers, contractors, suppliers and the client.
The position would particularly suit someone from a Hard FM or technical Facilities Management background who understands the demands of operating a large commercial or industrial facility.
Experience & Skills

Previous experience as a Facilities Manager, Site Manager, Technical Facilities Manager, Hard Services Manager or similar

Strong Facilities Management or Building Services experience

Experience managing engineers, technicians or facilities teams

Good understanding of planned and reactive maintenance

Contractor and supplier management experience
-
Strong Health & Safety and compliance awareness

Experience managing client and stakeholder relationships
-
Ability to manage multiple priorities within a busy operational environment

Strong leadership and people management skills
-
Excellent organisational and communication skills
-
Experience managing budgets, quotations and expenditure

Full UK Driving Licence
A recognised Facilities Management qualification would be advantageous but is not essential where candidates can demonstrate strong relevant experience.
Working Hours
This is a Monday to Friday, site-based position.
You’ll be required to work eight hours per day on site, with some flexibility around your start and finish times.
Typical hours could include:
08:00 - 16:00
or
07:00 - 15:00
This offers considerably more flexibility than many operational Facilities Manager positions while maintaining a standard Monday-to-Friday working week.
