An established facilities management provider is seeking a Technical Services Team Manager to lead and supervise a multi-disciplinary team of 6 engineers across a Healthcare PFI portfolio. Based primarily at a large acute healthcare site in Birmingham, with support to care home facilities in Stafford, this role will oversee the delivery of Mechanical & Electrical PPMs, reactive maintenance and lifecycle works, ensuring safe, compliant and efficient service delivery. This is a senior, hands‑on management role offering autonomy, long‑term stability and progression within a critical healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Line management and supervision of a 6‑person engineering team and specialist subcontractors
- Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety legislation, statutory requirements and contract KPIs
- Deliver PPM, reactive and remedial maintenance to agreed response times and standards
- Liaise with client and clinical stakeholders to prioritise works and minimise service disruption
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring and performance management to engineers
- Issue and manage Permits to Work and safe systems of work
- Oversee reporting, documentation and compliance submissions
- Support budgeting, costing and procurement of materials and services
- Act as Authorised Person, ensuring Responsible and Competent Persons are appointed and trained
- Support lifecycle and small works projects in collaboration with the Lifecycle Manager
Essential Experience & Qualifications
- Background within Healthcare, PFI or critical environments
- NVQ / City & Guilds Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
- Previous Authorised Person / Responsible Person / Competent Person (M&E) experience
- Strong technical knowledge of PPM, reactive maintenance and fault finding
- NEBOSH Certificate or Diploma (or willingness to work towards)
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Water Responsible Person status (or willingness to work towards)
Desirable
- FM project delivery experience
- Asset management and condition reporting exposure
- Working at Heights / AP qualifications
