About the Role
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Painter/Decorator to join the Facilities Management team at HMP. This is a full-time, on-site position in a secure environment, where safety, reliability, and attention to detail are essential. Due to the remote location of the site- over an hour from Lancaster- applicants will likely require their own transport unless local.
As part of the wider Ministry of Justice (MoJ) contract, you ll be delivering critical maintenance services that support a safe and well-maintained prison environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned and reactive painting and decorating across various prison areas
- Maintain and care for tools, materials, and company equipment
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety policies, risk assessments, and method statements
- Assist with refurbishment and maintenance projects as required
- Work collaboratively with the wider facilities and custodial teams
What You ll Need
Essential:
- NVQ Level 3 in Painting & Decorating (Level 2 may be considered with relevant experience)
- Prior experience in a painting/decorating or maintenance role
- Good understanding of personal health and safety practices
- Comfortable working within a secure environment and alongside prisoners
- Ability to follow procedures and complete tasks independently or as part of a team
Desirable:
- Previous experience in facilities maintenance or public sector environments
- Willingness to share best practices and support colleagues
