Maple Cross, Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire

£55,000 per annum

Permanent | Full-time | Site-based

Are you an experienced Facilities Manager with a good understanding of hard services, building compliance and contractor management? We are recruiting for a permanent Facilities Manager to take responsibility for a prominent three-building corporate campus in Maple Cross, near Rickmansworth. This is a fixed-site position with no regional portfolio travel. You will manage the day-to-day delivery of hard and soft facilities services across almost 100,000 sq ft of corporate office space. The campus can accommodate approximately 750 employees during its busiest periods and includes three separately serviced buildings, plant rooms, corporate offices, reception areas, meeting spaces and a large communal café.

The employer

Our client is one of the UK and Ireland’s largest facilities management service providers, employing more than 27,000 people. The organisation delivers facilities services across corporate workplaces, healthcare, life sciences, manufacturing and other regulated environments. You will join an established contract with an existing onsite facilities team and specialist maintenance contractors already in place.

The role

You will have overall responsibility for maintaining a safe, compliant and professional working environment across the campus. Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Managing planned and reactive maintenance across three corporate buildings
  • Overseeing specialist HVAC, mechanical, electrical, fire and water hygiene contractors
  • Leading the onsite facilities coordinators, fabric technicians and cleaning teams
  • Managing compliance, asset condition, contractor performance and remedial works
  • Acting as the main day-to-day contact for senior client stakeholders

Hard services

The majority of specialist engineering work is outsourced to established contractors. You will not be expected to personally repair equipment. However, you must understand how commercial buildings operate and be confident managing issues involving:

  • Heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems
  • Mechanical and electrical plant
  • Plant rooms and building assets
  • Fire, emergency lighting and life-safety systems
  • Water hygiene and statutory maintenance

You will assess reported faults, appoint the appropriate contractor, review recommendations and ensure that work is completed safely and correctly. The campus includes some ageing assets, so you will also help prioritise maintenance expenditure and prepare business cases for repairs, replacement equipment and capital investment.

Soft services and workplace management

Alongside technical facilities management, you will oversee cleaning, housekeeping, fabric maintenance and general workplace standards. You will ensure that issues are acknowledged quickly, stakeholders are kept informed and repairs or service requests are managed through to completion.

What we are looking for

To be considered, you should have:

  • Facilities management experience within a corporate, commercial or multi-building environment
  • A good understanding of hard services, planned maintenance and statutory compliance
  • Experience managing specialist contractors and reviewing quotations
  • Strong client, stakeholder and team-management skills
  • A practical and organised approach to resolving building and workplace issues

An engineering qualification would be useful but is not essential. Applications are welcomed from experienced Facilities Managers who have developed strong technical knowledge through managing commercial buildings and specialist contractors.

What is offered

  • £55,000 annual salary
  • Permanent, full-time employment
  • Fixed-site role with no regional portfolio travel
  • Responsibility for a high-profile corporate campus
  • Established onsite facilities and cleaning teams
  • Support from specialist technical contractors
  • Long-term career opportunities with a major FM provider
  • Convenient location approximately one mile from Junction 17 of the M25

This position would suit a Facilities Manager, Technical Facilities Manager, Building Manager or Hard Services Manager who enjoys taking ownership of a site and building strong relationships with clients and contractors. Every application will be reviewed by an experienced recruitment consultant. Apply with an up-to-date CV detailing your facilities management, contractor management and building services experience.
