We are currently seeking a Fabric Engineer with a strong joinery background to join our dedicated team operating across the Newcastle and Durham area. This is a specialist role focused solely on the installation, repair, and compliance of fire doors, with no fabric maintenance duties and no call-out requirements. Key Responsibilities:
- Installation of new fire doors in commercial and public buildings
- Remedial works and repairs on existing fire doors to meet current fire safety regulations
- Carrying out fire door inspections and reporting on compliance issues
- Ensuring all work meets relevant fire safety standards and building regulations
- Liaising with site managers and compliance officers to ensure work is delivered efficiently and safely
- Accurately completing documentation and reports related to fire door works
Requirements:
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Carpentry & Joinery (or equivalent) – Essential
- Proven experience working with fire doors (installation and remedial work)
- Strong understanding of fire door regulations and standards (e.g., BS 8214, BM TRADA or similar)
- Ability to work independently across multiple sites in the Newcastle/Durham region
- Full UK driving licence
