This global engineering company is a leader in the design, manufacture, and rental of loadbanks – specialist equipment used to test and verify critical power systems such as generators, UPS units, and turbines. Their products are essential in industries where power reliability is non-negotiable, including data centres, healthcare, energy, and marine. As a Service Engineer, you'll support customers both on-site and remotely with the commissioning, servicing, and repair of electrical loadbank systems. You'll be hands-on with testing, diagnostics, and technical reporting, and play a key role in ensuring high performance and reliability for customers' critical infrastructure.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Servicing, fault-finding, and repairing equipment in-house and at customer sites
  • Performing inspections, resistance/insulation testing, and live load testing
  • Commissioning new systems (primarily in Europe)
  • Providing remote technical support for breakdowns
  • Supporting development, testing, and urgent parts dispatch
  • Booking your own travel (flights, hotels, etc.) using a company credit card

Travel & Work Pattern:

  • Based in Burton upon Trent when not on-site
  • 2–3 European trips/month (3–5 days each); occasional longer projects (up to 10 days)
  • Occasional weekend work required
  • All travel time paid hourly
  • Nights away from UK base paid at 12 hours minimum

Pay & Benefits:

  • £18–£20/hour, depending on experience
  • Overtime rates:
  • Weekdays: 8 hrs standard, 6 hrs at time-and-a-half, then double time
  • Saturdays: time-and-a-half | Sundays: double time
  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Company credit card, mobile phone, laptop/iPad provided
  • Ideal Candidate:

    • Strong electrical skills; able to read diagrams and perform detailed testing
    • Mechanically minded and hands-on
    • Self-driven and confident working independently at customer sites
    • Organised, with strong attention to detail
    • Comfortable with international travel and flexible working hours

    Preferred qualifications (not essential):

    • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or Maintenance
    • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671)
    • ECS card, Electrical Test & Inspect, IOSH training
