As a Service Engineer, you'll support customers both on-site and remotely with the commissioning, servicing, and repair of electrical loadbank systems. You'll be hands-on with testing, diagnostics, and technical reporting, and play a key role in ensuring high performance and reliability for customers' critical infrastructure.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Servicing, fault-finding, and repairing equipment in-house and at customer sites
- Performing inspections, resistance/insulation testing, and live load testing
- Commissioning new systems (primarily in Europe)
- Providing remote technical support for breakdowns
- Supporting development, testing, and urgent parts dispatch
- Booking your own travel (flights, hotels, etc.) using a company credit card
Travel & Work Pattern:
- Based in Burton upon Trent when not on-site
- 2–3 European trips/month (3–5 days each); occasional longer projects (up to 10 days)
- Occasional weekend work required
- All travel time paid hourly
- Nights away from UK base paid at 12 hours minimum
Pay & Benefits:
- £18–£20/hour, depending on experience
- Overtime rates:
- Weekdays: 8 hrs standard, 6 hrs at time-and-a-half, then double time
- Saturdays: time-and-a-half | Sundays: double time
Ideal Candidate:
- Strong electrical skills; able to read diagrams and perform detailed testing
- Mechanically minded and hands-on
- Self-driven and confident working independently at customer sites
- Organised, with strong attention to detail
- Comfortable with international travel and flexible working hours
Preferred qualifications (not essential):
- NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or Maintenance
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671)
- ECS card, Electrical Test & Inspect, IOSH training
