About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Shift Electrician to join our team at the AstraZeneca Discovery Centre in Cambridge, a 24/7 critical and highly client-facing site. This role offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic building services environment, maintaining multiple buildings and key plant systems while ensuring safety and compliance at all times.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems in a critical building services environment.
- Work on building services and plant, including chillers, AHUs, FCUs, boilers, and HVAC systems.
- Conduct planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive maintenance, and fault-finding.
- Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, processes, and documentation (PTW, RAMS, compliance logs, shift handovers).
- Support and develop less experienced engineers within a team-focused environment.
- Work highly client-facing, maintaining professional relationships on a high-profile corporate site.
- Participate in a continental shift pattern: 4 days: 06:00-18:00, 4-5 days off, 4 nights: 18:00-06:00. No formal call-out rota, but short-notice cover may be required.
Requirements
- NVQ Level 3 Electrical (minimum).
- Experience in building services and critical plant systems.
- Awareness of critical systems; no specific BMS or lab equipment specialism required.
- Strong focus on safety, compliance, and process.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills, with a positive attitude and cultural fit.
- Willingness to mentor and support less experienced engineers.
