The Role
We are seeking an experienced Refrigeration Engineer specialising in Industrial / Process Cooling systems to join a growing service engineering team. This role focuses on the maintenance, service, and fault finding of industrial refrigeration and process cooling equipment across manufacturing and production environments. You will work on a wide range of plant including industrial chillers, cooling towers, dry coolers, pumps, heat exchangers, and process cooling circuits, ensuring systems operate reliably to support critical production processes. This is an excellent opportunity for engineers looking to work on complex industrial cooling systems rather than standard commercial refrigeration equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Service, maintain and repair industrial refrigeration and process cooling systems
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive service works
- Perform fault finding and diagnostics across chillers, cooling towers, pumps, heat exchangers and associated systems
- Identify and resolve issues such as refrigerant leaks, pump failures, pressure faults, temperature instability and flow problems
- Support installation, commissioning and upgrade projects
- Optimise system performance to improve efficiency, reliability and cooling output
- Provide technical support and guidance to customers and site teams
- Produce clear service reports and maintenance documentation
- Ensure all work is completed in line with health & safety regulations and industry standards
Required Qualifications
- F-Gas Certification
- Formal engineering qualification (Mechanical, Electrical or Refrigeration related)
- Full UK Driving Licence
Essential Experience
- Minimum 2 years' experience as a Refrigeration, Chiller or Process Cooling Engineer
- Experience working on industrial refrigeration or cooling systems
- Strong understanding of refrigeration principles, fluid systems and cooling processes
- Proven experience servicing equipment such as: Industrial chillers, Cooling towers, Dry coolers, Pumps and pipework systems, Heat exchangers
- Strong fault finding and diagnostic ability
- Experience delivering preventative maintenance and reactive repairs
Desirable Experience
- Experience within manufacturing, production or industrial environments
- Knowledge of glycol cooling systems and process temperature control
- Understanding of thermodynamics, heat transfer and cooling system performance
- Experience working with PLC or BMS integrated cooling systems
