Electrical Shift Lead – Critical Building Services

We're recruiting an experienced Electrical Shift Lead to join the engineering team responsible for maintaining a major landmark stadium in Wembley.
This is a large, technically demanding, 24/7 environment hosting some of the biggest sporting and entertainment events in the country.
You'll take responsibility for the electrical operation of the building during your shift, leading engineers, dealing with technical escalations and ensuring critical electrical and M&E systems remain safe, compliant and operational.
If you're a technically strong electrician with the experience and capability to lead a shift, the business is prepared to provide the necessary HV training and development.
The Shift Pattern
Your normal rota will be:
4 on, 4 off, 6 on, 4 off, 4 on, 6 off
Working a combination of:
Days: 07:00 - 19:00
Nights: 19:00 - 07:00
There are also regular overtime opportunities.
What You'll Be Doing
You'll be the senior electrical presence on your shift and the person engineers turn to when technical issues arise.
Responsibilities will include:
- Leading electrical engineering activity across the shift
- Providing technical support and guidance to electricians, engineers and apprentices
- Managing planned and reactive electrical maintenance
- Responding to faults, incidents and technical escalations
- Monitoring building and plant performance through BMS systems
- Ensuring PPM and reactive work is completed within SLA
- Managing electrical isolations and safe systems of work
- Issuing and controlling permits where appropriately authorised
- Supporting emergency response and incident management
- Supervising specialist contractors
- Ensuring statutory compliance and engineering standards are maintained
- Maintaining accurate shift logs and technical documentation
- Supporting continuous improvement and energy-efficiency initiatives
- Working closely with other shift leads and the wider technical management team
This isn't simply an electrician position with a Lead title.
You'll need to be comfortable being the go-to technical person on shift, diagnosing problems, making decisions and supporting less experienced engineers.
What We're Looking For
You'll need:
- NVQ / City & Guilds Level 3 Electrical Installation or equivalent
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
- Strong commercial electrical maintenance experience
- Excellent fault-finding and diagnostic ability
- Experience working with large building electrical systems
- Experience supporting or leading other engineers
- Good understanding of BMS and associated building controls
- Strong Health & Safety and safe-isolation knowledge
- The confidence to make technical decisions during a shift
- Good communication and leadership skills
We're keen to hear from experienced electrical engineers and electrical shift leads who have worked around HV systems but haven't yet obtained full HVAP status.
For the right person, training and certification can be provided.

Experience within any of the following would be particularly relevant:
- Large commercial buildings
- Stadiums or major venues
- Hospitals
- Airports
- Data centres
- Critical environments
- Large corporate estates
- 24/7 engineering operations
Data-centre experience is absolutely relevant, but this role needs someone who is interested in the wider building-services environment rather than someone who only wants to remain within data centres.
