The Opportunity

We are recruiting an experienced Heat Pump Operations Manager to lead and develop the heat pump division of a rapidly growing, technology-led home energy business. This is a senior technical and operational role with responsibility for the full delivery of domestic heat pump installations, from initial design and planning through to installation, commissioning and customer handover. You will lead a team of heat pump engineers, installers and operational coordinators, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to consistently high technical and customer-service standards. The Role

As Heat Pump Operations Manager, you will:

  • Manage the design, planning, installation and commissioning of domestic heat pump systems
  • Lead, support and develop heat pump engineers, installers and operational coordinators
  • Manage installation schedules, workloads, budgets and delivery capacity
  • Provide technical guidance on heat-loss calculations, system sizing, design and performance
  • Review designs and support engineers with complex or unusual installations
  • Monitor installation quality, productivity and customer outcomes
  • Investigate technical issues, failed installations and escalated customer cases
  • Conduct installation audits and introduce quality and process improvements
  • Ensure compliance with building regulations, manufacturer guidance and industry standards
  • Work closely with sales, procurement, technical support and customer-service teams
  • Monitor operational KPIs and produce clear performance reports
  • Support the continued growth and strategic development of the heat pump division

Team Leadership

You will be responsible for creating a positive, supportive and accountable team culture. This will include regular one-to-one meetings, technical coaching, performance management and helping team members develop their careers. The business is fast paced, so you will need to make clear decisions under pressure while maintaining quality, compliance and customer satisfaction.

What We’re Looking For

You should have:

  • Previous experience managing heat pump projects or renewable-heating installations
  • Strong technical knowledge of air source heat pump systems
  • Experience leading engineers, installers or technical teams
  • Knowledge of heat pump design, sizing, commissioning and system performance
  • Experience managing domestic installation projects
  • Good understanding of building regulations and relevant industry standards
  • Strong project-management, planning and problem-solving skills
  • Experience monitoring installation quality and compliance
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills
  • NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing, Heating or an equivalent trade qualification
  • Experience with ground source heat pumps, MCS compliance, heat-loss software, CAD tools or manufacturer-specific training would be advantageous.
