We are recruiting for an experienced Shift Mechanical Engineer to join a large facilities maintenance team operating across a major healthcare estate in West Birmingham.
The role will involve planned and reactive maintenance across a wide range of mechanical building services including ventilation, pumps, compressors, boilers, medical gases, heating systems and domestic hot and cold-water systems.
This is a permanent shift-based role suited to an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer with a strong building-services background.
Shift Pattern
- 2 days – 7am to 7pm
- 2 nights – 7pm to 7am
- 4 days off
- 40.25 hours per week
Duties & Responsibilities
- Planned Preventative Maintenance across mechanical plant and systems
- Reactive maintenance and breakdown response
- Mechanical fault finding and diagnosis
- Ventilation system maintenance
- Pump and compressor maintenance
- Boiler and heating system maintenance
- Domestic hot and cold-water systems
- Medical gas systems
- Responding to BMS alarms and out-of-hours issues
- Minor installation and upgrade works
- Carrying out repairs across mechanical building services
- Completing maintenance records and job documentation
Candidate Requirements
- Recognised mechanical engineering apprenticeship
- City & Guilds / NVQ Level 2 and Level 3 in a relevant mechanical discipline
- At least 3 years’ post-apprenticeship maintenance experienceStrong mechanical building-services background
- Experience with ventilation, pumps, boilers and heating systems
- Previous PPM and reactive maintenance experience
- Good fault-finding ability
- Previous FM, estates or commercial maintenance experience
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Able to pass a Standard DBS check
Previous healthcare experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
Experience with medical gases, pressure systems, ventilation systems or previous Competent Person / Authorised Person duties would also be beneficial.
This role would suit candidates currently working as a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, Shift Mechanical Engineer, Mechanical Craftsperson, Mechanical Technician or Building Services Engineer
