We’re looking for a reliable, hard-working Labourer to join our team as a Second Man, supporting our vac ex operators on live construction sites. You’ll work alongside experienced operators, helping to keep excavations safe, efficient and on schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting vac ex operators during daily excavation and utility works
- Using an air lance to expose services where required
- Acting as banksman
- Setting up and maintaining barriers and exclusion zones
- Keeping the work area and equipment clean, tidy and safe
- Following all site rules, RAMS and health and safety procedures
What We’re Looking For
- Valid CSCS Labourer card (essential)
- Full UK driving licence (essential)
- Groundworks and civils experience preferred
- Ability to work well as part of a team and follow instructions
- Good level of fitness and comfortable with physical, outdoor work
- Reliable, punctual and safety-conscious
- Willingness to learn and develop within the role, with the aim of progressing to vac ex operator
- Desirable (not essential)
- Experience working with or around vac ex machinery
- Knowledge of underground services and safe digging practices (HSG47)
- Street works or NRSWA qualifications
- Thames Water Passport
