Hutchison Ports UK is looking to appoint a full-time Occupational Health (OH) Nurse to join its OH team based at Felixstowe and help us continue our tradition of offering the highest standard of occupational healthcare, safety and wellbeing in the workplace.
The OH Department is a team of 8 employees supported by various specialist 3rd party suppliers.
You will help support the OH requirements for approximately 2,700 employees who work in a diverse range of roles from plant driving to labouring to office functions.
They work a range of different shift patterns, many covering 24 hours/7 days per week.
Whilst sometimes working at other HPUK sites (mainly Harwich), you will mostly operate from our OH facility at Felixstowe.
The role is based fully on-site as the workforce is all on-site.

- Key Requirements
Please note that the role involves very little 'hands-on' nursing.
It is primarily about providing OH advice to employees and Managers to help people get back to work or keep them fit at work, and ensuring statutory compliance with all OH legislation.
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of the principal roles in the Port from an OH perspective in order to provide the most appropriate clinical advice;
- Work closely with the HR team to minimise sickness absence levels by offering rehabilitation and welfare support to help people back to work wherever possible;
- Provide relevant OH advice to both employees and managers on issues such as fitness to work, medical restrictions, medication and general health & welfare;
- Organise and conduct health assessment/surveillance for both new applicants and the existing workforce in line with company policies & procedures;
- Organise and perform immunisations/vaccinations as required;
- Provide return to work advice to employees and managers following sickness absence;
- Maintain all medical records, data and documentation to the highest standard and in accordance with agreed processes and legislation.
Who are we looking for?
Suitable applicants will
- Either hold a formal OH qualification OR have relevant experience of delivering OH services.
- Be a Qualified Registered General Nurse with a broad base of clinical knowledge and evidence of continuing professional development.
- Be committed to acquiring OH skills, training and qualifications in the role.
- Be highly motivated, team-oriented and flexible, capable of responding quickly to changing requirements.

- Annual salary is based on skills and experience with 4 increment levels up to a maximum of approximately £51k for a fully trained OH professional for 37.5 hours per week
