Hutchinson Engineering, a leading UK supplier of specialist steel support structures, is seeking a dedicated Yard Operative. Since September 2022, we have supplied over 100 overhead cranes with complex steelwork, high-spec coating, and electrical requirements, all managed in-house.

Company Overview

Hutchinson Engineering operates in the Oil & Gas, Rail, Infrastructure, Nuclear, Telecoms, and Wind sectors. We have in-house design, manufacturing, and deployment functions across several sites in Widnes, with a turnover of £30m and 160 employees.

Purpose of the Role

Assist in the operation of our busy yard, ensuring efficient flow of materials, goods inward, and dispatches.

Key Responsibilities

• Loading and unloading wagons
• Building general steelwork

Additional Information

Drug and alcohol testing policy; full driving license is beneficial.

Work Schedule and Compensation

• 8-hour shifts, Monday to Thursday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, Friday 8:00 am – 2:30 pm
• Overtime, currently 10 hours per week, increasing
• £12.51 per hour, average annual salary £25,000
• Profit share bonus scheme (£500–£2000 annually)
