Job Description

Hutcheon Mearns are delighted to be exclusively working with a privately owned, growing business to recruit an experienced Accountant into this part time Finance Manager position based in Aberdeen.

The Opportunity

This staff role sits within a small, dynamic team, and will be based at their Aberdeen HQ. Working closely with the General Manager and to support the Board, you will lead and support the finance team in the delivery of all aspects of the finance function. A detailed job description can be shared, but in summary, your role will include:

  • Financial reporting and compliance
  • Year-end accounting and reporting
  • Treasury and banking duties
  • Supervision of the accounting team across the group companies
  • Budget preparation (PL cashflow)
  • Support and monitor the purchasing process, expenses payments and supplier due diligence and vendor management
  • Liaise and manage the relationship and information shared with outsourced payroll providers
  • Liaise with legal advisors, ensuring all legal filings are up to date and accurate
  • Act as main contact with Insurance Broker and manage annual review process
  • Oversight of invoicing and credit control
  • Pension and HR management
  • Support business improvement initiatives
  • Maximise the efficiency of financial processes, driving improvements where needed
  • Communicating and interpreting financial data to non-financial managers
  • Ad hoc projects as required to support the board

Background and Experience

You will be a Qualified Accountant (ACCA/CA/CIMA) or qualified by experience with strong technical skills and proven track record of accounts preparation. Our client will consider applications from either a practice trained Accountant with relevant industry experience or a Finance Manager / Controller from an SME. You will have the ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team, achieving deadlines and interacting with key stakeholders. Proficiency with spreadsheets and accounting software programs is essential.

Flexibility and Benefits

  • 22.5 hour working week
  • Flexible working pattern: client will consider 3 days or reduced hours over 5 days
  • Hybrid working; but you must have a presence in the office
