Hutcheon Mearns are exclusively recruiting on behalf of our prestigious client based in St Andrews for a Finance Business Partner to join their high-performing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified Accountant who thrives on collaboration, enjoys producing financial information to support strategic decision-making, and is passionate about driving continuous improvement within a complex and dynamic environment. This is a new role created to add capacity to the team to continue to provide high levels of finance business partnering support.
You will be working with a best-in-class finance team in a market-leading organisation, gaining exposure to strategic and high-impact systems transformation projects. Salary is up to £53,000 + 39 days annual leave and 14.5% employer pension contribution. This is a hybrid role working a minimum of 2 days a week in the office.
The Job Opportunity
As a Finance Business Partner, you will lead a small team, working closely with senior leaders across multiple business areas. Acting as a trusted advisor, you will provide insightful financial analysis, shape budget and forecasting processes, and help your stakeholders make data-driven decisions. This role is pivotal in connecting finance to operations - turning financial information into meaningful insight, challenging assumptions, and supporting planning for growth and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders across operational and professional services teams.
- Deliver high-quality financial insight, reporting and analysis to support strategic and operational decision making.
- Lead the annual budget and forecasting process for your business areas, ensuring robust financial plans are developed and maintained.
- Partner with non-finance stakeholders to improve financial understanding, performance and accountability.
- Month-end income and expenditure reporting and variance analysis.
- Preparation of capital appraisals in relation to projects in the capital plan.
- Manage and mentor a Finance Assistant.
- Input into external statutory reporting as required.
The Candidate
We are looking for a confident communicator with a strong business partnering mindset - someone who can translate the numbers into narrative and build trusted, productive relationships. You will be/have:
- A qualified Accountant with relevant post-qualification experience.
- A proven track record of delivering finance business partnering within a complex organisation (your role may not have been called 'Business Partner' - Management Accountant, Analysts and Accounts Seniors often have these skills!).
- Strong analytical skills and advanced Excel capability.
- Pro-active, problem-solving approach and ability to influence non-finance stakeholders.
- Experience with ERP systems (Oracle Cloud highly desirable but not essential).
