Hutcheon Mearns are delighted to be working with an established private investment office to recruit an Assistant Accountant / Company Accountant on a permanent basis. The role is open to full time candidates or those looking for four days. The organisation has a great culture and can be highly flexible to suit a variety of lifestyles.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious finance professional to join a small, modern, and close-knit team based in sleek offices on the outskirts of Newburgh.
The Opportunity
Working directly with the Finance Director, you will take ownership of the day-to-day accounting responsibilities across the group. The role has clear scope for progression, with the potential to develop into a leadership role as the business continues to grow.
Key responsibilities include:
- Processing invoices, banking and day-to-day financial transactions
- Preparation and support with month-end reporting
- Evolution of financial processes and controls
- VAT return preparation and submission
- Supporting with year-end statutory accounts and corporation tax requirements
- Acting as finance partner to the senior management team
- Monthly stock/WIP calculations and reconciliations
- Ad hoc credit control when required
Background and Experience
- Previous experience in a similar role
- Knowledge of stock/WIP accounting within a production/manufacturing environment (desirable but not essential)
- Confident with accounting systems (experience of system implementation beneficial)
- Proactive, detail-orientated and eager to take ownership of evolving processes
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to partner senior management teams
