Our client in a successful SME with operations across Scotland. Boasting a fantastic team environment, hybrid working and the opportunity to oversee the finance function, this is a great role for an experienced Finance Manager or Controller. The successful candidate would work closely with the FD to deliver timely, accurate and insightful financial information. You must be available to start within the next month and be willing to take on a Fixed Term Contract.
The Opportunity
The overall objective of the role is to ensure that appropriate systems and staffing are in place to produce quality, accurate and timely financial information.
- Ensure timely reporting of budgets, management accounts and tax, in line with Company and Group deadlines
- Preparation, supervision and review of management accounts, budget, forecasts and cash flows
- To ensure that management accounts are reliable, appropriate and monitored against budgets and forecasts and variances are properly explained
- Review and check weekly payroll.
- To ensure proper internal controls are in place and maintained to minimise risk.
- To support Board of Directors in the financial aspects of decision making e.g. contract bids, capital expenditure requests, cash management and debt collection
- To liaise with Group auditors and oversee the audit timetable and ensure it is achieved
- To review and prepare annual statutory accounts for UK entities as required and provide information for the completion of tax returns
- To lead the finance department and be responsible for line management, including annual performance review of all direct reports and provide appropriate training and support
- Play a leadrole in ongoing system implementations, improvements as and when necessary.
- Support Finance Director as required in ad hoc projects (inc, acquisition, system migration etc).
Background and Experience
- Qualified Accountant or QBE
- Experience as a Finance Manager or Controller in an SME
- Good all round accounting experience
- Ability to manage a team
- Excellent attention to detail
- Willingness to be hands on
