The Opportunity
The Finance Manager will play a vital role in supporting the Group Financial Director and assisting with leading the Group finance teams. The successful candidate will be responsible for the accounting, treasury and taxation matters, supporting the wider group with these same matters. The business is nearing the implementation phase of a new ERP system, and the Finance Manager will support the transition period. This includes:
- Assisting in the integration of financial processes, ensuring data accuracy, and adapting reporting practices to align with the new system.
- Responsible for the preparation of monthly management accounts following UK GAAP principles, while suggesting areas for improvement to ensure that monthly accounts are easy to understand and anomalies clearly communicated.
- Responsible for consolidating the Group monthly management accounts.
- Ensure the fixed asset register is maintained with timely recording of additions and disposals, in accordance with standards.
- Maintain the company’s finance system to a high standard, ensuring accurate allocation of transactions across nominal codes.
- Provide required data and analysis for the annual statutory audit and support the Group Financial Director in completing audits on schedule.
- Support the preparation of the annual budget in conjunction with the Group Financial Director and report on variances throughout the year.
- Prepare or support reconciliations and analysis, ensuring appropriate backup and critical review of balances.
- Ensure the wider finance team is supported and trained to perform daily/weekly/monthly tasks, maintaining the integrity of AR, AP and treasury functions.
- Proactively identify and support process improvements, helping to establish best practice and standardised ways of working.
- Support the annual insurance renewal process.
- Participate in other ad hoc tasks and projects as required, which may include travel to other group entities.
- Support the implementation phase of the new ERP system, assisting with data migration, testing, training, and embedding the system into daily finance operations.
Background and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting or Finance; ACCA/ICAS/CIMA qualified (or equivalent).
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and theory.
- Experience in a financial management role.
- Proficiency with Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience in data extraction and reporting for Excel-based models.
- Highly detail-oriented with strong organisational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a small team and engage effectively with wider business stakeholders.
- Positive attitude and initiative, with a drive to challenge the status quo through new ideas and improvements.
- Performance-focused, with a strong self-review ethic and desire for continuous improvement.
- Problem-solving mindset with the ability to anticipate and address challenges.
- Constructive and professional communication with all stakeholders including directors, auditors, and external advisors.
