Cooper Parry Finance Recruitment are working with a well‑established organisation based in Aberdeen to recruit an Assistant Accountant to their finance team. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive environment in a varied role with real scope to develop and progress your career. This position would particularly suit someone who is currently studying, or looking to begin studying, towards a professional accounting qualification and is keen to gain hands‑on experience across accounts receivable and wider finance activities.

The Opportunity

Reporting into the Finance Manager, you’ll play a key role in managing fee billing, collections, and credit control. Alongside this, you’ll support broader finance processes, reporting and continuous improvement initiatives across the team.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparation and issuance of accurate invoices
  • Managing direct debit processes and ensuring compliance
  • Reconciling accounts, including adjustments and discounts
  • Maintaining clear audit trails for all financial transactions
  • Proactively managing collections to ensure timely payments
  • Handling queries and resolving discrepancies
  • Monitoring aged debt and escalating where required
  • Producing regular aged debt reporting and analysis
  • Supporting cash flow forecasting
  • Assisting with month end, reconciliations and audit preparation
  • Maintaining accurate records across accounts receivable

Background and Experience

  • Experience within a finance role, ideally including credit control or accounts receivable
  • Strong attention to detail and good systems skills
  • Confident communicator with the ability to build relationships
  • Studying towards, or keen to start, a professional qualification such as ACCA, CIMA or CA
