Our client is a leading onshore and offshore drilling, engineering and technology company looking to source two experienced tax professionals! Operating internationally, this company has an outstanding reputation and offers an enviable culture and an attractive package. Reporting to the Head of Tax (Eastern Hemisphere), this role is responsible for providing advisory support to the Eastern Hemisphere business including ensuring compliance & reporting management happen in a timely manner. The role is also project focused and will see the successful candidate getting involved in a wide variety of interesting, high impact projects. The successful candidate will provide support and guidance as needed to 3 tax Managers, manage and maintain relationships with third party advisers and work closely with H&P finance teams and the US tax team.
Responsibilities
- Working closely with the Finance business leaders and commercial partners to understand current and future business plans and to provide specialist and commercially focussed tax advice.
- Support Tax Reporting Manager as needed with quarterly and year end reporting the US and with external audit.
- Support the Head of Tax on advisory projects.
- Ensure that the Group meets all its tax filing obligations, tax returns and appropriate transfer pricing documents are prepared and filed on time.
- Review tax budgets, quarterly tax packs, annual tax packs and ensure these are accurate and reflected in the local / Group accounts.
- Represent the tax department in cross department projects.
- Support SOX compliance.
- Cover for Head of Tax in their absence.
Key Tasks
- Research tax technical points and evaluate their impact on the Group or entities.
- Lead the provision of commercially focussed tax advice to finance and commercial managers on bids, new business opportunities and other projects.
- Lead specific tax related projects including M&A and restructuring, dividend planning and Group Financing.
- Develop and demonstrate best practice ways of working for the tax team to adopt.
- Provide support to the wider tax and finance team regarding tax accounting queries and technical guidance when required.
- Manage tax audits by providing guidance to local teams and tax managers and ensuring accurate and appropriate disclosure is made to the tax authorities.
- Manage, maintain and report tax risks and consider appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Review the impact of new tax legislation on existing group companies and report those changes.
Background and Experience
- Qualified and experienced senior tax professional.
- High level of commercial acumen.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
- Understanding of financial implications of tax transactions on the Group’s financial performance and reporting.
- Strong experience of international tax issues in a wide range of jurisdictions.
- Willing to challenge in a robust and professional manner.
