Hutcheon Mearns are supporting a leading, globally respected organisation in North Fife as they seek to appoint an Assistant Accountant to join their high-performing Finance Team. This is an excellent opportunity for a part-qualified Accountant who is looking to progress in their career. This is a key post within the organisation, supporting the Senior Management Accountant with managing budget variances, budget preparation and forecasts, month end accruals, prepayments and journals. This is a highly interactive accountancy role, involving liaising with a range of non-financial stakeholders on finance matters that impact their business. This is a new role created to add capacity to the team to continue to provide a high level of financial support.

The Job Opportunity

  • Reporting to the Senior Management Accountant, you will be responsible for:
  • Budget Management - providing advice and support, whilst reporting any areas of concern to management for review
  • Budgets and Forecasts - assist in preparation of budget and forecasts.
  • Input and preparation of accruals, prepayments and journal entries
  • Provide help and assistance to the Senior Management Accountant in delivering their Business Partner Strategy, and Strategic Planning process
  • Assist with the implementation of new systems and procedures
  • Maintenance of Finance coding structure, and reporting
  • Support and training Finance Assistants within the Finance Team to help develop skills where appropriate

The Candidate

  • You will ideally be a Part-Qualified Accountant (organisation supports study and progression)
  • Ideally experienced working in a larger organisation, in a busy finance office
  • Experience in collating large amounts of data and summarising into reports
  • Experience in budget preparation
  • Pro-active, problem solving approach and ability to communicate with non-finance stakeholders
  • Experience with Excel and ERP Systems (Oracle Cloud highly desirable)
