Husky Technologies TM is a global leader in the design and manufacture of high-performance injection molding systems and automated manufacturing solutions. Engineers at Husky work on new product development projects, designing complex electrical systems for automated machinery used worldwide.
Responsibilities
- Understand design requirements including business needs, customer discussions, internal standards, and industry regulations.
- Solve technical problems including conflicting requirements, system reliability, cost constraints, and manufacturability challenges.
- Mitigate risks through failure mode analysis, risk assessment, design adjustments, and validation test planning.
- Design and deliver complete electrical sub-systems for automated machinery.
- Power system sizing and protection.
- Servo system selection and sizing.
- 3D modeling of electrical equipment and cables on the machine, and in cabinets.
- Participate in execution of validation testing and incorporate lessons learned into future product development designs.
- Participate in team design reviews and check design documentation before release.
- Prepare manufacturing documentation including bills of materials, assembly drawings, cable fabrication drawings, wire preparation schedules, and work instructions.
- Support assembly, testing, and installation, and refine designs based on lessons learned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Skilled in performing and validating electrical design calculations.
- Experience solving technical problems, including reliability.
- 5–10 years of product development experience in machinery automation.
Additional Qualifications
- Understanding of electrical system troubleshooting, manufacturing, and assembly processes.
- Experience with circuit design, drafting, and detailing techniques (EPLAN preferred).
- Experience with electrical cabinet layout design, modeling, and detailing techniques (NX preferred).
- Machinery and Electrical Safety related design experience to North American and International standards is an advantage.
- Experience selecting and sizing various components (sensors, breakers, contactors, cables, connectors, servo systems, safety equipment).
- Experience as a project lead is an advantage.
- Ability to travel occasionally.
