Job Description
Hush is an ambitious and distinctive fashion brand, with plans to double the business over the next few years. Founded 21 years ago, we are now established as one of the UK’s leading online fashion retailers. We employ around 130 employees across head office and retail, creating and selling a beautiful range of women’s clothing and accessories characterised by effortlessness, simplicity and a laidback sense of style. Despite the challenges to the retail industry, Hush has continued grow – and our company culture still reflects our entrepreneurial roots and relaxed aesthetic. We love hard-working and talented people with a can-do attitude and a passion for what they do.
About the role
We're looking for a commercially-minded, detail-driven Merchandiser to help shape the future of our product strategy at Hush. This role is all about making sure the right products land at the right time, in the right place—and in the right volumes—so that our customers can shop the styles they love, and we can continue to grow. You’ll be responsible for building and delivering a smart, data-led trade plan that drives sales, manages stock effectively, and supports the Buying team in creating ranges that feel fresh, balanced, and distinctly Hush.
What you’ll do
- Produce balanced option plans for the department with clear reasoning behind ROS assumptions, options and depth of buy, ensuring the handover to Design and Buying is aligned with critical path dates
- Work closely with the Buyer to ensure range plans clearly provide a balanced range and pricing strategy, in line with brand values
- Review current trade and historical performance to identify risks and opportunities in future product ranges and work closely with the buyer to address these.
- Take into consideration the concessions offer when building ranges, ensuring grading is carefully considered to optimise sales.
- Plan line buys for future seasons in line with category sales and OTB plans
- Work with the Buying team to ensure margin/MOQ/vendor issues are flagged and resolved before buy meetings so that solutions can be found in plenty of time
- Work closely with the E-commerce team to ensure online offers are being optimised
- To understand, prioritise and work to the critical dates and deadlines in the planning process
- Provides clarity to current opportunities and risks, providing effective plans of action, seeks agreement and updates upon completion
- Take ownership and manage stock and sales using the WSSI and ensure that each product area is effectively and accurately forecast hitting agreed KPI targets.
- Manage the markdown proposition and suggest promotional/product activity to drive sales and margin.
What You’ll Bring
- A sharp commercial instinct and a natural feel for what sells
- An intuitive understanding of the Hush customer—what they want, how they shop, and what will excite them
- Strong analytical and numerical skills, with the confidence to translate data into smart decisions
- Calm under pressure, with a problem-solving mindset and the ability to pivot when needed
- Clear, considered decision-making and excellent planning and prioritisation
- Great communication and negotiation skills—you know how to collaborate and influence at all levels
