Hush is an ambitious and distinctive fashion brand, with plans to double the business over the next few years. Founded 21 years ago, we are now established as one of the UK’s leading online fashion retailers. We employ around 140 employees across head office and retail, creating and selling a beautiful range of women’s clothing and accessories characterised by effortlessness, simplicity and a laidback sense of style. Despite the challenges to the retail industry, Hush has continued to grow – and our company culture still reflects our entrepreneurial roots and relaxed aesthetic. We love hard-working and talented people with a can-do attitude and a passion for what they do.

We’re looking for a Financial Accountant to join our finance team in a fast-paced retail and e-commerce environment. This is a broad and hands-on role with real ownership across core accounting areas, from ledgers and cash to month-end and reporting. You’ll play a key role in ensuring the integrity of financial data, supporting business decisions, and continuously improving processes as the business scales. Working closely with the Lead Financial Accountant, you’ll also partner with stakeholders across the business, giving you strong exposure to the commercial side of finance.

The Role

You’ll take ownership of key financial processes while contributing to accurate, timely, and insightful reporting. Key responsibilities include:

  • Full ownership of Accounts Payable and Receivable ledgers, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and strong financial controls
  • Managing supplier relationships, reconciliations, and payment cycles, ensuring appropriate VAT treatment and coding
  • Overseeing revenue recognition and sales reconciliation, including alignment with third-party partners
  • Performing multi-currency bank reconciliations and maintaining accurate cash positions
  • Supporting and contributing to the month-end close, including:
  • Preparation of accruals and prepayments
  • Balance sheet reconciliations
  • Variance analysis with clear, insightful commentary
  • Owning selected cost centres, partnering with budget holders to review spend and challenge where appropriate
  • Supporting cashflow forecasting through accurate reporting of actuals
  • Ensuring accurate intercompany accounting across entities
  • Managing statutory payments including VAT and PAYE
  • Supporting audit processes and maintaining strong financial controls
  • Driving process improvements and supporting ongoing ERP development and enhancements
  • About You

You’re an accountant who is confident in the fundamentals but also keen to add value beyond the numbers.

    • Part-qualified or newly qualified (ACCA / CIMA / ACA)
    • Solid experience across financial accounting, month-end, and reconciliations
    • Background in retail or e-commerce is highly advantageous
    • Strong systems experience (ideally Microsoft Business Central)
    • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis)
    • Confident communicator, able to work with stakeholders across finance and non-finance teams
    • Proactive, detail-oriented, and continuously looking to improve processes
