Hush is an ambitious and distinctive fashion brand, with plans to double the business over the next few years. Founded 21 years ago, we are now established as one of the UK’s leading online fashion retailers. We employ around 150 employees across head office and retail, creating and selling a beautiful range of women’s clothing and accessories characterised by effortlessness, simplicity and a laidback sense of style. Despite the challenges to the retail industry, Hush has continued grow – and our company culture still reflects our entrepreneurial roots and relaxed aesthetic. We love hard-working and talented people with a can-do attitude and a passion for what they do.
Location: Clapham, London
Hybrid: 4 days in the office
Reporting to: Head of Finance
About the role
We’re an ambitious business with big plans to grow, and our finance team plays an important role in helping us make smart, commercially-minded decisions as we scale.
We’re now looking for a Commercial Finance Manager to join the team and bring financial insight, challenge and clarity to the decisions that shape the business.
This is a genuinely commercial finance role, working closely with teams across Merchandising, Marketing, Ecommerce, Retail and Operations. You’ll be a trusted finance partner to your stakeholders – helping them understand performance, challenge assumptions, spot opportunities and make better decisions.
You’ll take ownership of forecasting and budgeting for your areas, lead our weekly trading reporting and work closely with the Head of Finance, Buying and Merchandising teams to understand sales, margin and stock performance. It’s a role with plenty of variety. One day you might be digging into a trading trend or challenging a forecast; the next, supporting a strategic project or finding a better way to use data and technology across the finance function.
As Hush continues to grow, you’ll also have the opportunity to help shape how commercial finance works across the business.
What you’ll be doing
- Partner with key business functions including Marketing, Retail and Operations, providing financial insight, challenge and support.
- Own forecasting and budgeting for your assigned cost centres.
- Work with Buying and Merchandising to help forecast sales, margin and stock performance.
- Lead the production and delivery of accurate weekly trading reporting.
- Analyse performance against budget, forecast and prior year, identifying the key drivers, risks and opportunities.
- Challenge the numbers and investigate unusual trends, discrepancies and data issues.
- Prepare follow‑up analysis to support trading meetings and commercial decision‑making.
- Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders and help turn financial information into meaningful action.
- Support the development and tracking of strategic business initiatives.
- Work with the Technology team to improve the integrity and effectiveness of BI reporting.
- Support the Head of Finance with ad hoc analysis, reporting and queries from the leadership team.
- Look for better, smarter ways of working across the finance function.
About you
We’re looking for someone who is commercially curious, analytical and comfortable asking ‘why?’ and ‘so what?’
We'd love you to have:
- ACA or ACCA qualification with 2+ years' post-qualified experience.
- Strong experience in commercial finance, FP&A or finance business partnering.
- Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with large datasets. SQL knowledge would be a bonus.
- Experience within retail, fashion, ecommerce or consumer goods would be highly desirable.
- A natural ability to build relationships and work confidently with stakeholders across a business.
- The confidence to challenge constructively and turn financial reporting into action.
- A proactive, adaptable approach and the ability to work independently.
- An interest in using technology and data to make things simpler and better.
- A genuine enjoyment of variety – from solving the day-to-day to getting involved in bigger commercial decisions.
Most importantly, we’re looking for someone who wants to be part of the business, not just report on it. Someone who can get under the numbers, understand what’s really happening and help us make Hush even better as we grow.
Why Hush
We want Hush to be a place where people can do great work, have a life outside of it and enjoy the people they work with.
You’ll get:
- 26 days' holiday + bank holidays
- 2 additional Hush Wellness Days each year
- 5% employee pension contribution + 3% employer contribution through salary sacrifice
- A genuinely flexible, collaborative and creative working environment
- The opportunity to make a real impact in a growing fashion business
