The Junior Buyer (Buyer I) is a procurement professional responsible for procuring materials, components, and services to meet the company’s operational requirements. This role involves soliciting quotations, negotiating with suppliers, and ensuring timely delivery of quality products or services. The Junior Buyer (Buyer I) will work closely with the internal Supply Development, Supply Quality, Sourcing, Operations, and Engineering teams and with the supply base to build and maintain strong working relationships.

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES
- Procurement: Solicit and analyse quotations from suppliers. Negotiate prices, terms, and conditions to secure the best commercial position. Place purchase orders and ensure timely delivery of materials and components.
- Supplier Management: Maintain relationships with existing suppliers and assist in developing new supplier partnerships. Monitor supplier performance and address issues that arise, ensuring supply continuity. Conduct regular supplier reviews to ensure compliance with Husco’s quality standards. Support building supplier relationships across functions and organizational levels.
- Material Availability and Continuity of Supply: Monitor supplier schedules and closely coordinate with suppliers to ensure adherence, quickly highlighting risks to the continuity of supply or risk of expedited freight costs. Work closely with the production and material planning teams to optimize stock levels, avoiding material outages, minimizing working capital, and avoiding obsolescence.
- Cost Management: Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement cost reduction initiatives. Analyse total cost of ownership for components and make recommendations for cost improvements.
- Launches, Phase-Outs, & Change Management: Support procurement processes as they relate to product launches, phase-outs, and component changes. Coordinate with suppliers and internal teams to ensure smooth transitions during product phase-outs, new product launches, and component revision and change processes.
- Use of Supply Analytical Tools: Utilize ERP business system and Power BI tools as well as specialized supply chain, logistics, and inventory optimization tools and software to manage procurement activities. Analyse procurement data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Compliance: Ensure procurement activities comply with Husco’s expectations, company policies, Supplier Code of Conduct, and government and industry regulations. Maintain accurate records of contracts, quotes, purchase orders, pricing, and other important supplier selection and agreement data for audit purposes.
- Strong Team Player and Contributor: Able to work well with colleagues and produce results within a fast-paced and high pressure atmosphere. Combine strong attention to detail with an orientation towards results/execution.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field.
- Entry level+ (some experience in procurement or supply chain management, internship or co-op experience preferred).
- Willingness to pursue CIPS Level 4 Diploma in Procurement and Supply, APICS CPIM (Certified in Production and Inventory Management) Part 1, or similar qualification.
- Ability to support up to 10% domestic and international travel.
- Good negotiation and communication skills.
- Knowledge of procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite desired.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Eagerness to learn and develop within the procurement field.
