The Dormston School is a vibrant and dynamic school with high aspirations for pupils and staff alike. We aim to inspire confident, motivated students who have a passion for learning and are fully equipped to contribute to society. Our school was rated Good by Ofsted in June 2022, highlighting our harmonious and cohesive community and positive culture that ensures everyone is supported and encouraged.
We believe that History is an essential subject for the development of our young adults. It enables us to answer important questions such as ‘Where do I come from?’, ‘How did history lead us to here?’, and ‘Where do we go from here?’. Our department is passionate about historical research and aims to provide an exciting, innovative, and challenging curriculum so that all students can achieve their academic potential, develop a sense of humanity, and foster a life-long love of history.
Throughout their history lessons, students will build their historical knowledge, develop key writing skills, and analyse historical scholarship and sources to understand how the past is constructed and the workings of the modern world. This is a wonderful opportunity for a candidate who can challenge, motivate, and enthuse students to be part of something special and make a significant contribution to our school.
Our Religious Studies department offers a rich, thought-provoking curriculum that explores religious and non-religious worldviews through historical, cultural, philosophical, and ethical lenses. We examine how beliefs and traditions evolve over time, influence the world around us, and shape the future. It’s a subject that sparks curiosity and critical thinking—and we’re looking for someone who shares that passion.
Visits to the school are warmly welcomed. Please contact Mrs Otton, Head Teacher’s PA, if you would like to arrange a visit or for an informal discussion on 01384 816395.
The Dormston School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be subject to medical clearance, qualification checks, and an enhanced DBS check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. All applicants must provide documentation to prove their right to work in the UK.
Please note: Dudley MBC does not currently offer sponsorship for candidates without the Right to Work in the UK. Effective from September 2022, KCSIE states that as part of the shortlisting process, schools and colleges should consider carrying out online searches as part of the due diligence on shortlisted candidates to determine suitability to work with children and keep them safe.
All shortlisted candidates are now subject to an online check, and if there is anything concerning, the shortlisted candidate will be asked to comment on it either prior to or at interview. We reserve the right to close this vacancy prior to the advertised date should we receive a large number of applications.
