An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Income team. We are a team that delivers high performance and good customer service and continues to see monthly reductions in rent arrears for Dudley Council in what is a challenging financial time for all. This involves the maximisation of income, effective debt recovery and providing support, advice, information and guidance to customers to avoid financial difficulties.
Responsibilities
- Take an overall view of monies owed in order to maximise income to Dudley MBC.
- Deal with enquiries from internal and external customers and respond in writing, on the telephone or face to face as appropriate.
- Carry out home visits to engage with customers with outstanding debt.
- Undertake recovery action for rent arrears that includes the serving of Notice of Possession and Court Proceedings to County Court.
- Collect and review customers' income and expenditure details to agree affordable repayment plans and advise on ways to maximise income.
- Have a knowledge of welfare benefits.
- Use communication skills and ability to deliver through effective working relationships with work colleagues.
- Signpost customers to other teams and partner organisations as appropriate.
- Ability and willingness to work flexibly and to attend meetings and other events outside normal business hours to meet the needs of the service.
