We are currently looking to recruit a Full time experienced Practice Nurse (Permanent, not a bank nurse), at our Kings Park Surgery (Romford) to help deliver care in all areas of General Practice Nursing including: travel and child vaccinations, family planning and cytology.
General Practice Experience - REQUIRED (we are not currently considering applications without General practice experience)
- Be competent in chronic disease management including; diabetes, asthma, hypertension
- Be active in health promotion and patient education
- Be able to assist GPs with minor surgery
- Have the necessary skills and training to run spirometry, diabetes, smoking cessation, and travel clinics
Main duties of the job:
The successful Applicant will be an Experienced Practice Nurse, who is a registered General Nurse with full NMC registration. The ideal candidate will have qualifications/Certificates and experience in:
- Diabetic Check
- Medication Review
- Child Immunisation & Travel immunisation
- Cervical Smear
- COPD review
- Ear syringing
- Flu/Pnuemo/B12/Covid injections, Zoladex/Prostap
- Complex Dressings
You must be able to demonstrate commitment to professional development.
You should have experience of:
- Working in accordance with the UKCC Code of Professional Conduct and The Scope of Professional Practice, in General practice.
- Working with IT systems e.g. GP clinical systems such as EMIS and Office software.

Job responsibilities: It is the role of the practice nurse to work alongside the practice team to provide a service to the practice population. Patient enquiries must be handled courteously, efficiently and with empathy. Record keeping, protocols and procedures and the sharing of information within the team should be undertaken efficiently and effectively. It is essential that a strict code of confidentiality is adhered to at all times. It is important that all members of staff are prepared to take on additional duties or relinquish existing duties in order to maintain efficient running of the practice. The partners and line managers reserve the right to re-distribute duties and functions among members of staff from time to time, and requests for such changes shall not be reasonably refused.
Person Specification:
- Qualifications: Registered General Nurse, Full NMC registration, Qualifications/Certificates in cervical screening, immunisation administration, relevant to chronic disease management, wound care, and other areas relevant to post, Recognised qualification to diploma level or above, A demonstrable commitment to professional development.
- Experience: Experience of working in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and The Scope of Professional Practice, Experience of EMIS clinical system, Experience of Microsoft Office software, Experience of dealing with the public/patients, Able to use own initiative, Able to work under pressure.
- Scope to act: Ability to work without direct supervision using own initiative and determine own workload priorities, A sound understanding of confidentiality and its relation to health care delivery, Competent in nursing duties required for the post.
- Specific nursing skills / qualifications: Role Complexity/Service Development, Ability to organise and prioritise workload effectively, Ability to work effectively as part of an integrated multi-skilled team, Ability to emphasise and deal tactfully with clients, members of the public and colleagues, Ability to work flexibly and be responsible to changing demands, Able to work in a changing environment.
