This is a full-time, on-site Quantity Surveyor role based in Exeter. The Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for assisting with cost planning from feasibility through to final account, and supporting the preparation of tender documentation and contract documents. Day‑to‑day tasks include monitoring and controlling project costs, producing regular cost reports, valuing variations, and contributing to interim and final valuations. The role also involves liaising with clients, design teams, and contractors, supporting procurement and tender evaluations, and ensuring that financial risks and opportunities are clearly identified and communicated. The Quantity Surveyor will help maintain accurate project records and support the delivery of bespoke residential and other construction projects on time and within budget.
Qualifications
- Strong cost management capabilities, including experience in Cost Control and Cost Management throughout the project lifecycle.
- Experience in Cost Planning, including feasibility estimates, budget setting, and updating cost plans as designs develop.
- Ability to produce clear, timely Cost Reporting, including interim valuations, forecasts, and final accounts.
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline; working toward or holding professional chartership (e.g., RICS) is an advantage.
- Familiarity with standard forms of construction contracts and procurement routes.
- Strong numerical, analytical, and IT skills, including competence with relevant QS and MS Office software.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with clients, consultants, and contractors.
- Proactive, organized approach with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
