We’re looking for a reliable, practical and hardworking Yardperson to join our team at Hurkledale Farm, on a full-time and permanent basis. This is a varied, hands-on role supporting the day-to-day running of a busy dairy farm.

Responsibilities

  • General yard work to maintain a clean and safe working environment
  • Being responsible for the bedding of livestock pens twice per week
  • Overseeing and managing all deliveries arriving at the farm, ensuring vehicles are directed to the correct location and goods are unloaded safely and efficiently
  • Taking ownership of all delivery documentation, ensuring delivery notes and other associated paperwork are completed, filed and maintained correctly
  • Carrying out routine checks and reporting any issues identified across the farm
  • Disposing of any yard waste in line with farm procedures and environmental standards
  • Operating farm machinery, including telehandler and tractors
  • Assisting with other seasonal or ad hoc duties as required, including work on some weekends

Qualifications

  • Reliable, punctual and hardworking
  • Able to manage both practical yard duties and administrative responsibilities
  • Organised with good attention to detail
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Willing to learn and take on a variety of tasks
  • Has a telehandler licence (preferred) – training can be provided
  • Interested in farming or has demonstrable on-farm experience
  • Full driving licence and able to commute to our farm in Cummertrees, near Annan
  • Able to work ad hoc weekends during busy periods

What we offer
