About the opportunity

Our Client, a growing UK engineering, aerospace and defence supply group is looking for a commercially driven Business Development Executive to help identify, develop and convert new business opportunities. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys speaking with customers, building relationships and turning conversations into genuine sales opportunities. Working closely with senior commercial leadership, you will support the full sales pipeline, from lead generation and customer engagement through to quotations and follow-up.

What you’ll do

  • Making warm calls to existing customers, prospects and previous contacts
  • Making targeted cold calls to uncover new business opportunities
  • Identifying and developing opportunities across the organisation’s capabilities
  • Generating leads through calls, email, research and proactive outreach
  • Follow up leads from senior commercial colleagues and progress them into opportunities
  • Preparing and issuing quotations for inbound enquiries and proactive opportunities
  • Following up quotations and enquiries to improve conversion
  • Building strong relationships with current and prospective customers
  • Arrange customer meetings and visits for senior commercial colleagues
  • Attending or leading occasional customer visits when required
  • Representing the organisation at exhibitions, trade shows and industry events
  • Maintaining accurate records of activity, leads, opportunities and follow-ups
  • Identifying where the organisation’s capabilities can meet customer needs and create commercial opportunities

  • Experienced in B2B sales, business development, account management or lead generation

Experience in aerospace, defence, electronics, components, engineering or manufacturing would be an advantage but is not essential.
