Job Title: Senior or Principal Engineer
Location: London

We are working on some of the most exciting and challenging development and transport infrastructure projects in London, Europe and across the world, from large commercial skyscrapers to sport stadiums; London’s cycle networks to HS2; from removing traffic gyratories to leading the debate on smart servicing, autonomous vehicles, and e-mobility. Our engineers are integral to every stage of the project lifecycle, providing expertise from concept and planning through to detailed design and on-site construction management.

Our opportunity

Our established civil and highway engineering offer is continually evolving, and we are looking for a forward-thinking and talented individual with excellent technical engineering and management skills seeking a new role in our dynamic and fast-paced engineering team.

You will lead engineering design, technical analysis, modelling, and reporting to support the delivery of highways, streets, and transport infrastructure schemes. You will independently manage a wide range of projects and be the primary point of contact with clients.

As a personal supervisor, you will mentor and develop junior team members, fostering their growth through training, responsibility, and opportunities.

You will take a pro-active role in developing our business in line with our business strategy, including building existing client relationships and developing new ones.

Who you are

You will be a self-starter, have a passion for the urban built environment, transport and highway infrastructure engineering and its challenges, and love working in a proactive and hard-working team. You will be able to demonstrate (or show a keen desire to develop) the following:

  • You have a Civil Engineering degree or equivalent in a similar technical discipline.
  • Will be a Chartered or Incorporated Engineer, or close to achieving that status.
  • Ability to work with autonomy, make decisions, and act on your own initiative.
  • Excellent numeracy and analytical skills.
  • Good written and verbal skills, allowing effective communication.
  • Ability to review designs in Civils3D, AutoCAD, and the AutoDesk ecosystem.
  • Expertise in transport and highway infrastructure design, including S278, urban streets, and public realm schemes.
  • Ability to successfully manage your own and others’ workloads.
  • Experience in overseeing and checking the work of others.
  • Experience successfully managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative and dedicated team.
  • Ability to successfully support the work and career progression of others.
  • Ability to successfully manage and build effective client relationships.
  • Champion the culture and values of the company.

Desirable skills and experience:

  • Experience in construction logistics and traffic management design support.
  • Ability to review designs in OpenRoads, MicroStation and the Bentley ecosystem.
  • Experience working in BIM environments.
  • Experience in surface and sub-surface drainage design.
  • On-site experience, knowledge of scheme implementation, inspections, and resident engineer duties.

We offer a competitive package, including:

  • Annual personal and company performance bonus.
  • Private medical insurance through Vitality, including incentives to stay active, and free and anonymous wellbeing resources.
  • Paying 8% into your private Scottish Widows pension regardless of your personal contributions.
  • Paid subscriptions to two professional institutions.
  • Access to both internal and external professional training and development.
  • Access to professional networks including Women in Transport, Westminster and City Property Associations, and New London Architecture.
  • Internal mentoring programmes.
  • In-house massages.
  • Friendly competition through our netball and football teams.
  • Fortnightly knowledge-sharing sessions (free lunch included!).
  • Bi-monthly social events.
  • 25 days annual leave, with flexibility to purchase additional days, plus birthday leave and early finishes before bank holidays.
