At Huon Aquaculture everything we do is Oceans Ahead. We are looking for an experienced and hands-on Skipper to join our Marine Operations team at Hideaway Bay. This is a role for someone who loves being out on the water, enjoys variety in their work and wants to be part of an industry unlike any other. From vessel operations and marine farming activities through to supporting day-to-day farm operations, no two days look the same in aquaculture. Based near Dover, Hideaway Bay offers a unique working environment with stunning coastal surroundings and the opportunity to work outdoors on the water every day. Combined with a 7 on 7 off roster, this role offers great lifestyle balance and plenty of variety.
What you will be doing:
- Operate and maintain vessels under 24m
- Support marine farming operations including towing, mooring and grid work
- Coordinate loading, unloading and refuelling activities
- Operate onboard equipment including cranes and forklifts
- Complete vessel checks, maintenance and operational documentation
- Work closely with Marine Farm teams to safely deliver daily operations
- Champion safe work practices and look after the gear, crew and environment
What you will bring:
- Master >24m NC and Marine Engine Driver Grade 3 (MED 3) qualifications
- Experience operating commercial vessels in a marine environment
- Strong mechanical awareness and practical problem-solving skills
- Confidence working independently and making sound decisions on the water
- A proactive attitude with a strong focus on safety and teamwork
- Forklift, crane or marine farming experience will be highly regarded
