Overview
We are seeking an experienced Technical Product Developer to join our dynamic product team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for ensuring the seamless development of high-quality garments, from initial concept to final sample. The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of garment construction, fabric properties, and manufacturing processes, along with a keen eye for detail and a passion for innovation. As an integral part of our team, you will collaborate closely with the Creative Director, Design and Production teams to maintain the highest standards of quality and innovation while driving continuous improvement across the product lifecycle. This business is highly collaborative, and therefore you must work well in fast fast-paced environment alongside a fun & friendly team.
Core Responsibilities
- Lead the creation, development, and continuous refinement of detailed CADs and tech packs, translating initial design briefs into precise, production-ready documents. Ensure clear communication of design intent both visually and technically.
- Oversee and manage all sample submissions (prototype, SMS, sealing), ensuring accuracy and quality in alignment with the company’s critical path and commercial calendar. Championing product quality and production viability through continuous assessments and reviews.
- Own the product development critical path, proactively managing timelines, risks, and dependencies to ensure all deadlines are met across the collection(s).
- Guide the translation of creative direction into technically feasible and cost-effective prototypes, collaborating closely with Design and Production teams to maintain brand standards and innovation.
- Lead all fit sessions, evaluating quality, construction, and functionality. Provide actionable feedback and propose solutions that balance creative direction with technical feasibility and production constraints.
- Manage the critical path & samples from initial concept to sealed, ensuring quality standards, all deadlines are met, and proactively reducing potential risks and delays at all stages.
- Ensure that new garments are viable for production from a cost and quality perspective through ongoing risk assessments, consistency checks, and functionality reviews.
- Liaise with the Design, Production & Merchandising, advising on implications of design and construction changes on margin, timelines, and quality.
- Support in the onboarding of new suppliers, ensuring partners align with our standards for technical capability, innovation, and sustainability, along with all development processes & timelines.
- Ensure all product testing and compliance requirements are proactively managed, working closely with Production to guarantee materials and finished garments meet required standards.
- Contribute to the strategic evaluation and development of Hunza G’s supply base, identifying new opportunities for innovation, speed, and improving margin.
- Prioritise own workload in line with Meetings Schedule and Company Critical Path while maintaining good working relationships with all team members and Supplier partners.
- Support & manage PD Assistants, while ensuring accurate data management and workflow prioritisation.
- Seasonal travel to domestic & International material fairs & Suppliers will be required to align with brand direction and innovation goals.
What We’re Looking For
- A minimum of 8-10 years’ experience within the industry. Previous experience in both Knitted & Woven products and knowledge of Swimwear and/or lingerie would be very beneficial.
- An in-depth understanding of quality assurance, product construction, testing & optimisation.
- Existing relationships with Raw Material suppliers and finished goods manufacturers across Europe & North Africa would be extremely beneficial.
- Proficient in Adobe InDesign & CAD. Experience in Microsoft Office/Google Sheets would also be highly beneficial.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects at a senior level, balancing strategic oversight with attention to technical detail.
- Solution-oriented problem solver, flexible, adaptable and resilient.
- A creative mindset and a passion for innovation and continuous improvement.
- Strong understanding of cost engineering, margin impact, and scalable production processes.
- High level of self-motivation and effective time management skills, confident working to targets and deadlines.
- Excellent communication and supplier management abilities, with a proven track record of building strong internal and external relationships.
- Knowledge and understanding of PLM would be highly beneficial, but not essential, as full training will be provided.
