The Legal Advisor is accountable for the negotiation, onboarding, contract performance delivery and governance of Huntswood strategic partnerships, ensuring a quality service is provided to the business across all requirements.

Job description

  • Transaction support: working on low level commercial matters such as draft contract documents, non-disclosure agreements, letters of engagement, amendments and extensions
  • Document management (including filing), updating and inputting to the risk register and contract management system together with managing the signature process
  • Legal diary management and organisation
  • Point of contact to the business, representing the legal function and acting as a gateway for ad-hoc legal requests
  • Collating management information and board reports
  • Assisting the legal team in legal governance and embedding best practice across the organisation
  • Data search and research assistance
  • As required, support the negotiation and execution of client contracts
  • Prepare, review and negotiate a variety of commercial contracts and documentation (SLA’s, KPI’s, Intellectual Property protections) to assist and support various business activities. Identifying, quantifying and mitigating risks, escalating as appropriate and aligning risk with business strategy
  • Ensure alignment between Huntswood’s client and supplier contracts in terms of risk management
  • Complete all required duties associated with an in-house legal function, such as; filing, risk reporting, contract management system use, input into legal team direction and willingness to form part of a strategic function.

Essential skills

  • Ideally suited for a newly qualified Solicitor
  • Excellent relationship management and communication skills necessary for interaction with internal and external customers.
  • Knowledge of, and experience in contract negotiation, preparation and administration
  • A sound working knowledge in commercial contract law, including relevant commercial aspects relating to suppliers and strategic partnerships (GDPR, Intellectual Property, SLA’s)
  • The ability to perform under pressure and deliver to challenging timescales.
  • A self-motivated individual who works comfortably without direct supervision.
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing to a variety of audiences
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities for multiple stakeholders
  • A tenacious, flexible and adaptable individual who will work well individually and within a team.
  • Someone who is well organised and delivers on time with a focus on quality and consistency and attention to detail

Desirable skills

  • Experienced in managing a range of business to business contract types including the provision services of a similar nature to Huntswood’s, supplier services and technology services
  • Experience of working within regulated industries (financial services, utilities)
  • A service-oriented individual with previous experience of managing a suite of suppliers across a spectrum of industries, including strategic partnerships.
