Huntsman has an opportunity for an experienced and dynamic Transport Planning Team Leader to join our Supply Chain team in Duxford. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for leading a team of transport planners to ensure the efficient and safe transportation of chemical products worldwide. Your leadership, attention to detail, and deep understanding of logistics and regulatory compliance will help us meet operational goals, optimise logistics performance, and deliver exceptional customer satisfaction.
Role Responsibilities
- Team Leadership & Development: Lead and inspire a team of transport planners, coordinators, and DGSA, setting goals and performance targets. Provide coaching, mentorship, and support to team members for ongoing professional development. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and safety within the team. Monitor and evaluate individual and team performance to ensure alignment with operational objectives and KPIs.
- Shipping Planning & Coordination: Oversee the planning and execution of shipments, ensuring timely and complete deliveries of chemical products. Coordinate transportation to customers, warehouses, and production facilities, with full compliance to hazardous materials regulations. Ensure shipments meet industry standards and are planned efficiently across global routes.
- Continuous Improvement & Optimisation: Drive process improvements across shipping and logistics operations to enhance efficiency and reduce costs. Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement strategies to minimise transportation waste.
- Problem Resolution & Customer Service: Act as the primary point of contact for resolving any issues related to shipments, including delays, damages, and customer complaints. Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to resolve problems and ensure smooth operations. Ensure effective communication with all parties, providing regular updates on shipment progress and concerns.
- Performance Monitoring & Reporting: Track and report key shipment performance metrics and KPIs. Use data analysis to assess operational performance, making recommendations for improvements. Prepare regular performance reports for senior management, highlighting trends and areas for improvement.
Experience And Competencies
We are looking for experienced candidates with excellent communication skills and a solution-focused approach. A Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field or equivalent experience. Extensive experience in shipment planning or logistics. Strong knowledge of hazardous materials shipping regulations, such as UN regulations, ADR, DOT, and OSHA. Proven leadership skills with experience in managing teams and driving continuous improvement. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in SAP (SAP ECC, SAP S/4HANA, or SAP TM) and MS Office including advanced Excel skills for data analysis and reporting.
Desirable Skills
Experience with global shipment planning and international logistics. Certifications in hazardous materials handling, transportation management, or supply chain logistics. Knowledge of environmental regulations and sustainability initiatives in logistics.
