Huntsman is seeking an experienced EHS Officer to join our chemical site in Wilton. This full‑time onsite role reports to the Site EHS Manager and focuses on building strong working relationships with site operations teams to promote a strong corporate EHS culture.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with site operations teams to promote our corporate EHS culture.
- Conduct regular safety walks and safety interactions to ensure all activities comply with Corporate, Business and Site EHS Policies.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of EHS standards and implement agreed actions to enhance the site's overall performance.
- Supervise the disposal of controlled waste to ensure compliance with legal requirements.
- Maintain a working knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations and codes of practice to provide appropriate advice and solve EHS issues.
- Support the development, maintenance and implementation of site Improvement Plans and IPPC Permit responsibilities, working with the EHS Manager to meet legal and corporate standards.
- Review and update safety procedures and conduct audit compliance of these procedures, taking appropriate action when non‑compliance is evident.
- Actively participate in the site Behavioral Safety Programme, reviewing observations and taking required action to maintain programme effectiveness.
- Manage procurement, issue and maintenance of site PPE, including monitoring and controlling the PPE budget.
- Contribute to and lead specific project groups as part of EHS Steering Group activities.
Qualifications
- Experience working in a continuous flow manufacturing sector (Chemical, Oil, Gas or Pharmaceutical) in an EHS function and a COMAH regulated site.
- Strong communication skills with a solution‑focused approach and ability to build working relationships with site personnel.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to deliver group training and presentation sessions on site.
- Prior experience conducting Risk Assessments, JSA's and audits.
- NEBOSH certification or diploma desired.
