At Huntsman we’re currently looking for Environmental Toxicologists to join our Product Safety & Regulatory Compliance team. In this role, you’ll help commercialize new chemical and polymer products by ensuring their regulatory compliance and sustainability. You’ll collaborate within a diverse and global team of human health, exposure, and regulatory specialists. This is a unique opportunity to gain experience and grow your environmental science career in a fast‑paced and supportive team while working on challenging, innovative chemistries. A fully remote position is open to candidates located anywhere in the UK, and a second hybrid position is located at our Shanghai Technology Center.
Role Responsibilities:
- Plan, commission, and supervise physical‑chemical, environmental fate, and ecological hazard testing at CRO laboratories.
- Analyze and interpret chemical safety data to classify hazards in line with GHS and EU‑CLP standards.
- Work closely with R&D teams to evaluate environmental risks and exposures linked to new chemistries and manufacturing processes.
- Compile and present chemical property and exposure data using standardized reporting tools such as IUCLID, CHESAR, and EasyTRA.
- Leverage cheminformatics (QSAR, AI) and New Approach Methodologies (NAM) to support chemical hazard assessments.
- Engage in international forums including regulatory consortia, trade associations, and expert working groups relevant to our products, markets, and compliance issues.
Experience And Competencies:
- University degree in chemistry, biochemistry, environmental science, toxicology, or related field. Candidates holding higher degrees and/or having prior industrial experience are encouraged to apply.
- Previous experience in assessing chemical distribution, persistence, bioaccumulation, endocrine disruption, and environmental effects of chemicals.
- Analytical characterization and monitoring of complex substances (e.g., UVCBs, polymers) in environmental/biological samples.
- Preparing chemical registration dossiers (EU‑REACh), with proficiency in IUCLID.
- Conducting exposure modeling and risk assessments (EU‑REACh, US EPA‑TSCA) using ChemSTEER, CHESAR, EasyTRA, etc. is a plus.
- Managing standardized testing programs (OECD Guidelines) under GLP.
- Knowledge of global chemical regulations and sustainability initiatives.
- Strong background in organic chemistry, with hands‑on experience in analytical methods (spectroscopy, HPLC, GC, MS) or polymer synthesis.
- Familiarity of QSAR, chemical grouping, and cheminformatics tools.
- Strong collaboration skills in setting strategies, and in managing projects, priorities, budgets, and timelines.
