A multi-disciplinary construction consultancy is seeking an experienced FIDIC Engineer to support a major new-build data centre scheme in Belgium. This is a high-impact role within a respected consultancy delivering complex, mission-critical projects across multiple sectors. The position is UK-based with regular European travel and is available on both a permanent and freelance basis.
The Opportunity
You will act as the consultancy’s FIDIC specialist on a flagship data centre development, providing expert contractual and technical guidance across pre-construction and delivery. With 2–3 nights per week spent in Belgium, this role suits someone who enjoys international project exposure and thrives in a fast-paced, technically demanding environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the contract administrator, ensuring that all contractual obligations under the FIDIC form of contract are properly executed and administered.
- Lead and manage the contract administration process, including notices, instructions, claims, and variations, ensuring compliance with contractual timelines and procedures.
- Coordinate closely with the client, consultant, and contractor teams to ensure alignment and effective communication on contractual and commercial matters.
- Provide clear, accurate and timely advice on FIDIC contract interpretation, claims assessment, and dispute resolution.
- Lead and attend key project and progress meetings, providing expert guidance on contract administration and performance monitoring.
- Implement and monitor key project procedures, ensuring consistent compliance with project governance and FIDIC requirements.
- Support continuous improvement by reviewing and enhancing contract administration processes.
- Attending site in Belgium 2–3 nights per week.
What You’ll Bring
- Strong, demonstrable experience working with FIDIC contracts on major construction projects.
- Background in engineering, project management, or contract administration.
- Experience on data centres, mission-critical, or MEP-heavy schemes (advantageous).
- Ability and willingness to travel regularly to Belgium.
- Excellent communication skills and confidence working with international teams.
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach and the ability to work independently.
