Hunts Recruitment are recruiting Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) for a specialist education setting based in Totton, with both temporary and permanent opportunities available.
We are looking for caring, confident and resilient individuals with previous experience working with children or young people in a similar field. Experience within an education or school setting is ideally preferred, particularly supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and behaviours that can challenge.
This is a rewarding, hands-on role supporting pupils both academically and socially, working alongside teachers and other school staff to help children engage positively with their learning and school environment.
The role will include:
- Supporting individual pupils and small groups within the classroom
- Helping pupils engage with and complete learning activities
- Supporting children with SEN and additional needs
- Managing and responding appropriately to behaviours that can challenge
- Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils
- Supporting teachers with lessons and learning activities
- Monitoring and providing feedback on pupil progress
- Helping to maintain a calm, safe and supportive learning environment
- Supporting pupils during breaktimes and other school activities
We're looking for:
- Previous experience working with children or young people in a similar field
- Experience within an education setting ideally preferred
- Experience supporting SEN and additional needs
- Experience managing behaviours that can challenge
- A calm, patient and consistent approach
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Someone reliable, resilient and able to work well as part of a team
Previous experience as an LSA, Teaching Assistant, SEN Support Worker, Children's Support Worker or Residential Support Worker could all be relevant.
Temporary Opportunities
Our temporary positions are generally ongoing placements of 4β5 days per week, depending on your availability and the needs of the school.
These aren't necessarily short-term, one-off bookings. If the placement is working well for both you and the school, assignments can be extended and continue for several months at a time, giving you the opportunity to build consistency and really get to know the pupils and staff you are supporting.
Permanent Opportunities
Permanent positions are also available for candidates looking for a longer-term role within specialist education.
Permanent hours:
Monday to Friday β 8:50am to 3:25pm
30 hours per week | Term Time Only
Actual Annual Salary: Β£17,637
Both temporary and permanent opportunities are subject to a successful half-day unpaid trial shift. xiskglj
