We are looking for a Senior Information Governance Officer to join our team, reporting to the Head of Information Governance. You will help ensure the Council complies with key information laws, including UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, FOI, EIR, and PECR.
What you will do:
- Support and deliver the Council’s Information Governance strategy and work programmes
- Provide expert advice on data protection and information governance
- Ensure compliance with data protection laws and best practice
- Support audits, policies, and governance standards
- Maintain Records of Processing Activities across services
- Carry out Data Protection Impact Assessments and manage information risks
- Investigate data breaches, complaints, and incidents
- Deputise for the Data Protection Officer when required
- Work with teams and stakeholders to promote good data practices
About you:
You will have strong experience in Information Governance or Data Protection, with the ability to manage complex issues, provide clear advice, and support compliance across a large organisation. This role supports both Medway Council and Gravesham Borough Council under a shared service arrangement.
