An established and growing organisation is seeking an Accounts Assistant to join its busy and friendly finance team. This is a varied role offering the opportunity to gain exposure across a broad range of accounting activities, with the potential to secure a permanent position at the end of the 12 month FTC and develop a long-term career within the business.
Working closely with the wider finance and operations teams, the successful candidate will be involved in day-to-day accounts administration, supplier and customer queries, reconciliations and credit control support.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Processing purchase and sales invoices in UK and overseas currencies
- Bank and company credit card reconciliations
- Processing employee expenses and supplier payments
- Preparing remittances and dealing with supplier queries
- Investigating and resolving account discrepancies
- Maintaining accurate customer and supplier records
- Assisting with customer invoicing and international payments
- Supporting credit control activity, including reviewing aged debt and overdue accounts
- Liaising with customers and suppliers regarding account queries and payments
- Assisting with quarterly VAT returns
- Supporting month-end and year-end processes
- Assisting with financial reporting, budgets and forecasts
- Providing general support to the wider finance team
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant, Finance Assistant or similar role
- Experience using Sage 50 or a similar accounting system
- Good Excel and data entry skills
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
- Confident communication skills and the ability to liaise with customers and suppliers
- The ability to manage a varied workload and meet deadlines
- Experience of overseas transactions or multiple currencies would be advantageous
- Desirable, previous experience of assisting with VAT
