Summary: Mission Technologies, a division of Huntington Ingalls Industries, is seeking an Optimization Team Lead to help build and evolve mission critical systems that support globally integrated military training and simulation. In this role, you will join a fast paced, user focused development team that values innovation, technical excellence, and continuous improvement. Our team is driving the modernization of these capabilities through scalable architectures, containerized solutions, continuous delivery pipelines, and next generation simulation technologies. This work directly enhances the readiness and effectiveness of the Joint Force by delivering advanced, reliable, and highly integrated training environments.
What You Will Do
- Design, develop, and optimize large scale software systems that support joint military training and simulation.
- Translate functional requirements into robust, scalable, and maintainable technical solutions.
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including troubleshooting and supporting production systems in critical environments.
- Mentor Associate Software Engineers and provide technical guidance to peers.
- Rapidly learn and adapt to existing architectures, development processes, and operational environments.
- Contribute to architectural discussions and long term system design decisions.
- Lead a team of engineers, provide performance feedback, support career growth, and ensure delivery of program requirements.
What You Must Have
- 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
- Strong logical reasoning skills and solid understanding of object oriented design, data structures, algorithms, and software design patterns.
- Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (Java, JavaScript, Python, C++, or C#).
- Experience with at least one modern frontend framework (React, Vue, or Angular).
- Knowledge of full software development lifecycle best practices, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Self motivated with the ability to succeed with minimal direction.
- Must have an active Secret Clearance.
Preferred Requirements
- Experience designing or supporting distributed systems and large scale architectures.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and frameworks.
- Experience with collaboration and tracking tools such as Confluence, Jira, and Git.
- Knowledge of application abstraction, container fundamentals, and orchestration systems.
- Experience developing in Linux environments and working with both relational and NoSQL/graph databases.
