This position is an assignment in Barrow-in-Furness, UK. Beginning in April 2025, the initial contract period is two years, with the possibility of annual renewals thereafter up to 5 years. Travel across the United Kingdom will be expected for this position.
The chosen candidate will work collaboratively with BAE Systems in the UK supporting NNS to increase the capability provided by the NXGenDigital project to the SSN AUKUS Submarine Program, to the needs of downstream users who will utilize the data generated by the CAD/PLM toolset.
An embedded NXGenDigital Senior Manufacturing – CAD/PLM Integration Consultant is requested to support the NXGenDigital team in the development, deployment and implementation of the NXGenDigital project. The goal is to ensure that the product supports the entire submarine build lifecycle by effective and efficient integration with other enterprise toolsets such as SAP.
This embed will support the team through enabling Stage 2 (Arrangements/Detailed Modeling) and Stage 3 (Outputs) of the SSN AUKUS Program.
Responsibilities include:
- Assist NXGenDigital leadership team in development of efficient business processes and procedures, process & software improvements, and discipline specific.
- Assisting the SSN AUKUS leadership team in assessing and implementing a Model Based Definition (MBD) design to leverage efficiency of a single source of truth 3D model for SSN AUKUS based on US LfE.
- Providing assistance to BAE to implement a Digital Shipyard enabling efficient use of MBD for construction and lifecycle maintenance.
- Using US LfE on the design and construction Change Management Process to ensure the development and implementation of efficient change tools and processes.
Must Have:
- Bachelor's Degree and 9 years of relevant exempt experience; Master’s Degree and 7 years of relevant professional experience; Ph.D. and 4 years of experience.
- Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with the development integration of process and methodology between Engineering (NX/Teamcenter) and Manufacturing (SAP).
- Familiarity with the consumption of the EBOM into manufacturing and support with focus on maturity management, conversion of PBS to build, automation of outputs and digital gearing.
- Familiarity with maintenance planning and support BOM development, MBD and model consumption through lifecycle, and supply chain integration.
- Above average communication and organizational skills.
