Summary

We are seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to lead the deployment, integration, and security of the Navy Training Baseline (NTB) software pipeline. In this key role, you will serve as the technical expert responsible for configuring NTB environments, performing advanced troubleshooting, integrating complex systems, and securing our CI/CD ecosystem. You will also design innovative ways to monitor, protect, and optimize automated pipelines across our Gitea, Jenkins, and Kubernetes infrastructure.

What You Will Do

  • Deploy, configure, and maintain NTB software suites within complex test environments.
  • Lead expert-level troubleshooting for NTB applications and supporting systems.
  • Integrate NTB software with external applications and diverse hardware assets.
  • Manage and monitor CI/CD tools including Gitea, Jenkins, Ansible, and Kubernetes to ensure high availability.
  • Design and implement new methods to secure and monitor automated CI/CD pipelines.
  • Automate security checks, vulnerability scans, and threat monitoring within the pipeline.
  • Identify and remediate security vulnerabilities within pipeline infrastructure.
  • Develop and maintain detailed system architecture documentation and technical manuals.
  • Create Systems Interface Description (SV 1) diagrams to map current and future architectures.
  • Provide clear, comprehensive turnover instructions to operations teams.
  • Lead incident response activities and actively monitor system logs to detect and address security events.

What You Must Have

  • 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
  • Expert-level knowledge of Linux (RHEL strongly preferred).
  • Advanced experience building, managing, and securing containerized environments.
  • Hands-on experience with Gitea, Jenkins, Ansible, and Kubernetes.
  • Strong background in NTB software deployment and troubleshooting.
  • Proven system integration experience across hardware and software environments.
  • Experience authoring comprehensive technical documentation and system architecture guides.
  • Ability to create SV 1 diagrams and other technical architecture artifacts.
  • Skilled in preparing detailed operational turnover packages.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code, particularly Ansible.
  • Strong scripting abilities with Python, Bash, Perl, and/or Go.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance.
  • Current CompTIA Security+ certification (DoD 8140/8570 compliant).
  • Current CE Linux certification (RHCSA, Linux+, or equivalent).

Preferred Requirements

  • Additional advanced certifications like CISSP, CEH, or AWS Security are a plus.

Physical Requirements

Office, industrial, or shipboard environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances. Lifting and moving materials may be required.
